Standard No. 6: The teacher of PK-12 music can assess musical knowledge and skills.

Artifact #1: The first PDF is my secondary unit plan which has different types of assessments for each activity. The different types of assessment range from a rating scale 1-5, listening type of assessment, students assessing students (i.e. brass assess woodwinds). Included in this unit plan is different strategies and methods that involve not only the teacher but the students assessing as well. Another type of assessment is having the teacher collect paper on the analysis of the music which supports another type of varied student assessment in the classroom.

Artifact #2: The second PDF is elementary plan which has varied assessments for the second grade classroom exploring the form of Call and Response. There are a number of different types of assessment involved with the elementary unit such as Pre-assessment. The students will go through KWL charts writing down what they know, what the want know and what they learned throughout the lesson. This is a great tool for the student and teacher to monitor progress throughout the topic. Other assessments such as post-assessments like quiz reflections are a great way to check for their learning of call and response. The students go through a labeling process for their post assessment and the teacher will visually check if they labeled correctly the two categories. This unit has been great to make me a better teacher at finding assessments that are simple for the students but always enhances learning.
